The Portfolio Assessment Tool.

I was very surprised that 9/10 of my colleagues in different schools don't use the Portfolio as an asessment tool. Yes, after the survey I did in group 2 during the Setif 2008 summer course, I found out that few teachers know about it and very few use it.

1/ Do teachers use Language Portfolio in Algeria?

2/ Do they know what it is and how it is prepared and implemented?

3/ Do they realize how profitable it is?

4/ Any comments would be appreciable.

I myself have never used such a tool for assessment neither my colleagues. Would you please explain what it is, how it is used and how successful this assessing tool is. Providing a model to highlight this point is appreciated.

The Language Portfolio is one of the many assessment tools that can be used in class.
I'm using it with MS1 learners and believe me it is giving excellent results and many satisfactions among the learners, teachers and some parents as well.

I do confess this type of assessment is one of the most time consuming but " the more you give it, the best you'll get from it". If you try it, you'll be addict to it.
It is not easy to achieve but it deserves.

There will be time for more details, comments, experiences since it is a lifelong process.
