Punir ne rime pas du tout avec châtier...

Le châtiment est une chose, la punition en est une autre.
Quand la législation scolaire a proscrit la punition corporelle (le châtiment corporel), elle a bien fait là où ça faisait mal, mais elle n'a pas donné le "remède" de remplacement à un point tel, que l'apprenant prit le dessus sur son formateur (rébellion sur les devoirs et les exercices, chahut sans crainte, ....) les conséquences ne se comptent plus et l'impact direct sur le rendement scolaire s'avère monumental.
Je le dis haut et fort: où est la crainte de l'apprenant, cette composante psychologique nécessaire à une passerelle indispensable entre l'apprentissage et les savoirs?
Le maillon manquant dans la législation scolaire qui ferait la différence entre le sérieux et l'anarchie, la discipline et la turbulence, ne se bâtit pas d'un clin de raisonnement furtif orchestré par des circonstances précipitées.
Moi, je punis.

Punishment is ‘constructive’ when the one who punishes knows Why, When and How to punish. When the teacher feels really obliged to punish corporally, and for the well-being of the learner, s/he should be patient and wise enough when doing so.
I personally dislike the corporal punishment although I sometimes fall in the ‘trap’ of punishing!
Tackling this issue would take more time and space. The child on the way of building his/her personality may have it destroyed while undergoing some kinds of punishment…
Some pupils would never forgive us, without us knowing that…and to be taken for a parent is better than to be taken for a hangman!
